Mechanic Apprentice

This is a Full-time position in Queens, NB posted May 15, 2018.

Position Overview

We are looking for a self-driven, trained Mechanic Apprentice to maintain and repair construction equipment under the direction of the Mechanic.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. As the Apprentice Mechanic you will have the ability to work under minimal supervision. You will be well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of construction equipment and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) targeting functionality and longevity
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
  • Keep logs on work and issues
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in small engine servicing on general construction equipment
  • Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle various tools
  • Capable of working in shop & yard
  • Willingness to observe safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Exhibits professionalism in work habits
  • Clean driving record (abstract)
  • AZ/DZ or A restricted license is considered an asset

  • Shop environment involving long periods of standing
