Job Description

The successful incumbent will be punctual, reliable, and have the ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

All assigned duties will be completed in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures.

Hours of Work: Hours: 40 to 50 Hours / Week. The hours of work may be subject to change and is dependent on the operational requirements. ​7 Am start

Brief Overview of Duties/Responsibilities:
 Receive and relay information to central dispatch
 Oversee condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment,
 Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle,
 Transport and handle dangerous goods,
 Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials,
 Drive lighter, special purpose trucks,
 Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
 Transportation/Travel Experience
 Regional, Short-haul, Local
 Security and safety
 Driver’s validity license check, Driving record check (abstract), Bondable
 Work conditions and physical capabilities
 Repetitive tasks, Overtime required, Sitting, Attention to detail
 Transportation and travel information
 Drive manual transmission vehicle, Valid driver’s license
 Own Tools/Equipment
 Steel-toed safety boots
 Personal Suitability

Additional Skills:
 Professionalism in customer service, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques, Address customers’ complaints or concerns
 Communication Systems Experience
 Citizens band (CB) radio
 Documentation Knowledge
 Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Accident or incident reports, Trip reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Maintenance and repair reports
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
 Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Flatbed, Tractor-trailer.
 Some experience with Lugger, Roll-off, and Tractor Trailer Dump would be beneficial.
 Up to 50 lbs
 Driver’s License (Class 1 or A),
 Air Brake (Z) Endorsement,
 Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate,
 Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate,
 Defensive Driving Course,
 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
