House Manager – Bilingual English and Mandarin Speaking

Seeking an experienced, Bi-lingual (Mandarin and English) House Manager for an ultra-high net worth family moving into a new home in Vancouver.

Previous experience in hotel management, or hospitality/private service management is required. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing other staff, the day-to-day running of the interior and exterior of the residence. This position is full-time and applicants should be flexible with schedules and travel as required.

  • A versatile hands-on manager, able to assist and fill in as needed
  • Hire, train and supervise other staff members
  • Perform walk-throughs and inspections to ensure timely completion of all assigned duties
  • Schedule, assign and assist with seasonal deep cleaning projects
  • Maintain and update household operating and standards manuals
  • Management of household inventories, and implementing new organizational strategies
  • Regular errands to include but not limited to grocery shopping, dry cleaning, receiving and sending of packages
  • Greeting of guests and visitors, answering telephone and taking messages, general mail and correspondence
  • Calendar management for social, family, and travel itineraries
  • Assist with event planning and execution, food and beverage service
  • Schedule and supervise trades and vendors
  • Knowledge of household security systems
  • Occasional driving duties
  • Other duties as required

Skills & Experience

  • Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all projects assigned
  • Must be service oriented, able to anticipate principals’ and guests’ needs
  • A team player able to motivate and work with staff to ensure a positive outcome
  • Tech savvy and computer literate; knowledgeable and experienced with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times; exercise diplomacy, discretion, and respect boundaries
  • Must be bilingual with excellent Mandarin and English language skills, written and oral
  • Must be polished and present professionally
  • Must have a valid, clean British Columbia driver’s licence
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
